    About Teacher

Bethany Muresan is an active cellist and musician, currently based in the greater Nashville area. She was raised in southwest Virginia, where she began her musical quest in a very musical family—her mom being a professional violinist. She started violin at age 4, however soon decided that the cello seemed more fun. She still thinks so!

Bethany has studied privately with Lisa Liske-Doorandish and Benjamin Karp and performed in masterclasses for Wendy Bissinger, Jonathan Kremer, Joshua Dent, Bartholomew LaFollette, Amy Barston, Zuill Bailey, and Steven Doane.

Bethany placed in the final round of two concerto competitions with her performance of the Saint-Saens cello concerto in a minor, followed by the Schumann cello concerto. She went on to study music and business at Roanoke College, frequently playing chamber music with professors and fellow students, including sonatas with pianist Elizabeth Bachelder.

Bethany has played under conductors including David Wiley, Robert Turizziani, James Glazebrook, and Isaac Terceros. Additionally, Bethany has performed as principal cellist in international orchestras throughout the world, including in Sacramento, CA; Itú, Brazil; Porumbacu, Romania; Brazilia, Brazil; Lima, Peru. She has also played in the United Kingdom and all across the United States.

Her musical career not only graces stages around the globe where she captivates audiences by her captivating passion for the art of music-making, but this same energy flows into her teaching. Bethany offers an eclectic, individually-tailored approach for each student, based on their musical goals and interests. She is a registered teacher with the Suzuki Associations of America and received training in Every Child Can! and Suzuki Cello Books 1 & 2. Bethany is passionate about sharing her love of music and encouraging creative expression in students, both young and old, through her teaching.
